Key Outcomes
- The Mediterranean diet with NRPT supplementation resulted in a significant increase in muscle mass percentage and a reduction in fat mass percentage. This group also showed a decrease in fat at the triceps, upper hip bone, and abdomen.
- The ketogenic Mediterranean diet with coconut oil led to similar improvements, with significant increases in muscle mass percentage and reductions in fat, particularly under the shoulder blade and abdomen.
- The ketogenic Mediterranean diet with NRPT and coconut oil also significantly increased muscle mass percentage and reduced abdominal fat.
- Overall, the Mediterranean diet with NRPT and the Mediterranean diet supplemented with coconut oil were the most effective nutritional interventions, yielding the greatest improvements in body composition among ALS patients.
