Synthesis and Stability of Dihydronicotinamide Riboside from Nicotinamide Riboside Chloride: Preclinical Findings
Synopsis
NRH, a highly effective synthetic NAD+ precursor, was produced in high yield from nicotinamide riboside chloride (NRCl) using a water-based reduction process under low-oxygen conditions. The method achieved a 55% yield and 96% purity, confirmed through multiple chemical analyses. NRH was more thermally stable than NRCl but degraded quickly in acidic or oxygen-rich environments. Stability improved in nitrogen, at low temperatures, and under basic pH. This scalable process makes large-scale NRH production more practical.
