Nicotinamide Riboside and Pterostilbene Reduce Liver Inflammation in NAFLD: Clinical Findings

Objectives

To determine the effects of nicotinamide riboside and pterostilbene (NRPT) supplementation on liver fat in adults with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).

Journal

Hepatology

Key Outcomes

  • NRPT supplementation did not reduce liver fat. However, NRPT reduced markers of liver inflammation, including alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT).

Duration

6.5 months

Dose

250 or 500 mg NR + 50 or 100 mg PT

Study Design

Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, parallel assignment study in 111 adults with NAFLD
