Nicotinamide Riboside Supplementation and Exercise Are Safe and Feasible in Childhood Cancer Survivors: Clinical Findings

Objectives

To evaluate the feasibility and efficacy of a remote telehealth exercise program, with or without NR supplementation, on improving glucose homeostasis and muscle health in adult childhood cancer survivors with prediabetes.

Journal

Pediatric Blood & Cancer

Key Outcomes

  • As a feasibility study, the target of achieving ≥70% compliance with both the exercise and NR interventions was successfully met, indicating that this approach was well-received by the patient population.
  • NR supplementation showed no significant effects on markers of glucose metabolism, body composition, or muscle strength.

Duration

6 weeks

Dose

1000 mg

Study Design

Randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, pilot study in 20 childhood cancer survivors with prediabetes
