Nicotinamide Riboside Supplementation Increases Blood NAD+ Levels in Healthy Humans: Clinical Findings

Objectives

To determine the human pharmacokinetics of NR supplementation and its effect on whole blood nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) levels.

Journal

PLoS ONE

Key Outcomes

  • NR supplementation significantly increased blood NAD+ concentrations between baseline and Day 9. On average, NAD+ levels increased 2-fold.
  • No significant changes were observed in blood pressure, body temperature, body weight, white blood cell count, lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), or aspartate aminotransferase (AST).

Duration

9 days

Dose

2000 mg

Study Design

Non-randomized, open-label study in 8 healthy men and women
