Article: Benefits of At-Home Nicotinamide Riboside Injections: Clinical Findings
Objectives
To assess NR injection safety and explore effects on NAD+, cellular energy metabolism, oxidative stress, fatigue, and sleep.
Journal
medRxiv
Key Outcomes
- Both the 50 mg and 100 mg subcutaneous groups reported significant reductions in fatigue, sustained through the end of the study.
- After 30 days of at-home injections, the ratio of mitochondrial ATP production to glycolytic ATP production increased by over 41.3%.
- In the combined-dose analysis, 14 of 16 urinary oxidative stress markers decreased significantly at one or more follow-ups. By Day 100, 8-OHdG, a marker of oxidative DNA damage, decreased by more than 50%; CML, a marker of protein damage associated with aging and metabolic stress, by approximately 57%; and nitrotyrosine, a marker of oxidative and nitrosative stress, by more than 80%.
- Combined-dose analysis showed significant improvements in perceived mental and physical health. In dose-specific analyses, only the 50 mg group showed a significant improvement in mental health.
- By Day 100, nearly 37% of participants reported improvements in facial appearance.
- Sleep-related impairment decreased significantly by Day 100 in the combined-dose analysis and the 100 mg group, but not in the 50 mg group alone.
